It has always been my personal view that parents should
support and sometimes watch classes as part of the confidence building
process. We have had to stop people watching due to the number of people
coming through the club and the disruption it causes to the students. I
have reassessed this situation and think we should try and reintroduce a
system that would serve everybody. We have to set a couple of ground
rules to try and make this work.
1. The dojo
is a place of learning and should be treated like any other classroom
situation. It must be quiet and no interference should be accepted.
2.If you
want to watch a particular class you have to enter the training dojo at
the same time as the students.
3.Absolute
silence is required from people watching for the entire duration
of the class.
4.No
interference of any sort is allowed by anyone regardless of any
situation. Whether your child’s pants have fallen on
the floor or has been hurt, or any situation whatsoever. I am the
mom, the dad, the uncle the aunt, the granny and the granddad during this
hour. I will have designated people that will bring anything to my
attention that I may have missed or am missing. I have enough experience
to assess if your child needs any attention from anyone other than me.
Please respect this rule.
5.All cell
phones must be switched off. I am teaching our students
respect. It will not help if you disrespect me by keeping your cell phone
on during my class. Please keep it on silent and in case you need to take
a call please leave the room before you start your conversation.
6.No
toddlers will be allowed to watch. It’s unfair to try to get a 2
or 3 year old to keep completely quiet for an hour. If you want to bring
other children into the dojo during this time you must leave the dojo
immediately if that particular child cannot be absolutely still and
quiet.
7.No
parent/spectator is allowed on the dojo floor unless
specifically invited to do so. If anyone wants to enter the floor, even
if invited you must please remove your shoes before stepping on the
training area.
8.Students
that are being dropped off early can come into my class if prearranged by
the parent. Please try
your hardest not to drop off kids too early and leave them on the side of
the road. For Security reasons all children are to be collected from
inside the dojo. We can’t allow kids to run outside without me knowing that
you are there.
9.NO student
or parent is under any circumstance allowed to enter the class during the
last 15 minutes. This is a crucial time when some students really struggle
to concentrate. The smallest disruption will not be tolerated at the
expense of the student.
I appreciate your understanding.
